The role of quality has grown recently, and quality is increasingly becoming a dominant market factor. This is well reflected - in addition to the increased sensitivity of the buyers and users - also in those expensive advertisements and advertising campaigns, which we see at all times and in all places today, where quality, and reference to quality is of great importance. Business relations are based on good quality products or services, which are often a method to escape from a difficult business situation and from marketing- sales difficulties. In Hungary, several considerable achievements were made in the area of quality affairs The development covers the European harmonisation of the legal system (for example the introduction of European guidelines, the development of the technical regulation system), legislation (for example product liability, measuring affairs and standardisation, accreditation, consumer protection) just like the efforts of the business organisations (for example creation and attestation of quality assurance systems, product certification).

In the recent years, Hungary has made considerable efforts in terms of quality development. An EU-conform quality system, or at least a system, which is close to the EU-system has evolved by today, which includes also the necessary infrastructure. Several thousand companies dispose of a certificate pursuant to the ISO 9000, and the National Quality Award has been established and is awarded annually, etc.
